Annual Report 2024/25: Key Ingredients for a Good Life

MENU AR 2425

Welcome to the C-Change Scotland annual report for 2024-2025. The theme we have chosen to illustrate the work of the organisation this year is food.

Think of the key ingredients for a good life, the nostalgia associated with childhood celebrations, entertaining cookery shows and favourite café or restaurant menus.

Food connects us together through custom and tradition. It furnishes the important times in our lives, birthdays, weddings and funerals...

Introduction Teaser 5-4

In previous years, we have drawn from popular culture as inspiration to help us frame our annual reports. We’ve been inspired by classic album covers, movie artwork and last year we took our creative lead from the wonderful world of literature.

As we gathered together to discuss potential themes for this year’s report, there was no shortage of great ideas, but one in particular, suggested by our colleague Tom, stuck out more than the others...

In late 2022, a family reached out to C-Change with a plea for help. Their loved one and son had been in hospital for years with no real prospect of him returning to his own home and living in his own community. Though a local support provider was in place, they lacked the capacity to help him live the life he deserved, and progress was slow. That call marked the beginning of something transformative - not just for him, but for many others as well.

“When a family phones us and says, “Can you help?” we always say yes. That doesn’t mean we’ll provide the support...

Hi I’m Robyn, I work in the finance and business team at C-Change Scotland. I first started here was a was 20 years old (that’s 12 years ago!)

I spent some time supporting Dates and Mates as well as C-Change before C-Change offered me a more permanent admin role.

Small Supports-09

As I clicked ‘Join’, a quiet wave of nerves settled in. I was about to meet Nic and Rebecca from NDTi for the first time — not realising I was stepping into one of my favourite projects so far.

The Small Supports project, run by NDTi, aims to help people with learning disabilities live good lives with the right level of support tailored just for them. It focuses on flexible...

He’s walking along West Sands beach

with the sand caressing the soles of his feet

the waves lap gently, the sun shimmers down

of all the places he’s loved, this is the jewel in the crown.

There’s a pull, a need to run but he hesitates

the crash of waves...

Framed avocado artwork with the words "Organic Growth," symbolizing natural growth and sustainability.

It feels like we’ve been living in the ‘Hard Times’ era for a very long time – we even referenced it in our last annual report 2023-2024, and the effect it has on the day to day running of the organisation.

We caught up with colleague and Personal Development Worker, Dave Watson, who has been with the organisation for 10 years, to find out more about the reasons why he has worked with C-Change for so long...

Flour, butter, and egg yolk in a bowl symbolising the ingredients that make up a good life.

Here are the stories of two People We Work for: Ryan and Andrew in their own words. Both hold something very dear to them, something that has become a vital component of living their good lives and it might not be what you think.

Ryan tells us that his dog Cooper has changed his life immeasurably: full of love and energy, he tells us what it means to live in his own home and spend time with his wee ‘mini cooper’. He describes his life having ‘pounced upwards’ just...

When it’s the journey that’s important not the destination.

Annual Report Graphics Finals-03

We have been involved in campaigning work, this year highlighting amongst other things the effect that tax changes will have on the sector as a whole, but particularly the People We Work For.

The changes in eNics (Employers’ National Insurance Contributions) brings with it significant challenges for individuals managing their own budgets. To this end we launched a campaign called ‘Unintended Consequences’ to talk in understandable...

Ruby Teaser 1

For Debbie and Andrew, supporting their daughter Ruby through the transition into adult life was a journey filled with heartache, resilience and, ultimately, hope.

Ruby thrived in her early education, but adulthood brought challenges. Despite their best efforts, Debbie and Andrew found themselves battling a system that failed to provide the support Ruby needed. “She was so neglected,” Debbie recalls. “Her mental health was declining...
