Human rights in everyday life…
The people we work for exercise their human rights every day, by choosing what makes a good life for them.
The purpose of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities, and to promote respect for their inherent dignity.
Our Personal Development Worker (PDW) colleagues support the people we work for to exercise their rights every day; in their homes, their work and their communities. They ensure that Article 19 of the CRPD: Living independently and being included in the community, is a lived reality. They are ‘Human Rights Defenders’.
Kieren is keen to keep improve his health and fitness. He is supported to regularly attend his local gym. A simple, every day example of this convention right in action.
