Introduction
“You can’t just eat good food. You’ve got to talk about it too. And you’ve got to talk about it to somebody who understands that kind of food.”
Kurt Vonnegut
Welcome to the C-Change Scotland annual report for 2024-2025. The theme we have chosen to illustrate the work of the organisation this year is food.
Think of the key ingredients for a good life, the nostalgia associated with childhood celebrations, entertaining cookery shows and favourite café or restaurant menus.
Food connects us together through custom and tradition. It furnishes the important times in our lives, birthdays, weddings and funerals. It can be used as a symbol of love and caring and of respect. It can also be emblematic of man’s inhumanity to man. It can represent identity and belonging or isolation and desperation.
Food doesn’t just sustain us by keeping us alive, important as that is. It means so much more.
Social care support is also about so much more than keeping people alive. At its best it is, for those who need additional support, the key ingredient for living a good life.
C-Change has 5 main dishes on its menu and trying to master these is the focus of the organisations work.
- Supporting good lives
- Doing great work
- Creating a better world
- Being a sustainable organisation
- Growing local communities
We combine the finest ingredients: the people we work for and their families, our dedicated colleagues and our community partners. We add a unique blend of human rights, bespoke support arrangements and self-directed support, and create a rich and nourishing environment where everyone can thrive.
We take a slow cooking approach to supporting the good lives of the people we work for. It requires patience, attention and humility. We constantly listen to people’s needs and preferences and adapt the recipe for their good life to their unique tastes.
Please put the kettle on, select your favourite biscuit and relax as you partake of the offerings in this year’s annual report.
We do hope you enjoy it.
