Learning at work week 2021

Blog by Iona Brownell, Communications Assistant, C-Change Scotland.

“You learn something new every day” – it’s true, I have done a lot of learning at work throughout my time with C-Change, and I probably have learned something new each day. I started as an Apprentice in 2018 and worked towards my Digital Application Support qualification while gaining experience in the office alongside Finance and Business colleagues. Here I learned many transferrable skills: processing mail, filling and shredding documents, communicating with visitors and much more!  I then worked as an Area Administrator while completing my qualification in Digital Marketing. This allowed me to add to my learning from the apprenticeship and take on more responsibilities in the workplace. I became part of the Virtual Communication Team while working as an Administrator, creating ‘How To’ videos about the systems the organisation use. I learned how to use new software and this opportunity allowed me to see the organisation from a new angle. I now work part time in the Virtual Communication Team, continuing to learn and develop my skills, as I study Graphic Design at college.

C-Change has allowed me to learn at work and has helped me find the right career path. All the opportunities and learning has got me where I am today, and I think it is very important to have that in the workplace. I would highly recommend an apprenticeship, learning at work has been both enjoyable and interesting.”
