‘Lennox Castle Stories’ Website Launch Event

Published: April 17, 2013

On Wednesday the 17th of April we officially launched the website of our social history project ‘Lennox Castle Stories’ with our project partners Project Ability. This took place at Project Ability’s Base in Trongate 103.

The launch was chaired by David Douglas of the organisation Heartfelt. The day started off with a key speech from Glasgow City Councilor & C-Change Board member Malcolm Cunning followed by poignant accounts of life in the former hospital by ex-residents John Bryan (with his brother Sam) & Marie Christie.

After a short break people were invited to give feedback. The artists leading the project; Kate Burton, Tracy Gorman and Meredith Crone shared their experience of introducing the group to a vast array of media and artistic processes.

Elisabeth Gibson, Project Ability’s Director showcased the website and Doreen Kay an ex-resident shared her story. Doreen’s story was followed by people who had worked at Lennox Castle Hospital and who had delivered the hospital closure programme.
