dates-n-mates Lottery Funding Success!
We are very pleased to announce that our project dates-n-mates has been awarded £120,000 by the Big Lottery Fund over the next three years to fund their work as Scotland’s national dating and friendship agency run by and for people with learning disabilities.
John-Paul Moffat, Director for Dates-n-mates Glasgow said ‘We want to say a massive Thank You! to every person who plays the National Lottery. People with learning disabilities often face loneliness and isolation, but thanks to this Lottery funding dates-n-mates members in Glasgow and Renfrewshire will have opportunities to meet new people, get out and about and find friendship and romance.”
“The Big Lottery Fund has already been very generous in its support for dates-n-mates”, said Project Co-ordinator Lesley Miller, “This money will help to sustain dates-n-mates for the next 3 years. Our members tell us how important dates-n-mates is to them. People with learning disabilities, don’t always have the same opportunities as other people to develop a social life. Simply having the chance to meet new people and get out and about transforms people’s lives – and it’s the people who play the Lottery who make this possible.”
dates-n-mates offers adults with a learning disability a varied monthly programme of social and dating events in and around their local community. For more information visit dates-n-mates.co.uk
