United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities – SCLD Report
The Scottish Commision for Learning Disability (SCLD) has been supporting a group of people with learning disabilities from across Scotland to talk about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD). As part of Learning Disability Week 2014, the group published a report on how real the rights in the UNCRPD are for people with learning disabilities in Scotland.
An individual we work for, Holly Millar was one of the individuals working with SCLD on this document. Holly has told us;
“I worked along with a group of people working with the SCLD to contribute to this document. My role was to look at how people with disabilities get a better life, some of which was based on my own personal experience.”
“I also did a talk on the importance of the awareness of human rights for people with learning disabilities to a large crowd at The National Friendship Event at The Arches in Glasgow earlier this year. This was with Dee Flannigan of the Scottish Human Rights Commission.”
