Go, If You Want To
He’s walking along West Sands beach
with the sand caressing the soles of his feet
the waves lap gently, the sun shimmers down
of all the places he’s loved, this is the jewel in the crown.
There’s a pull, a need to run but he hesitates
the crash of waves, the way the water breaks
he turns to his companion waiting to be told ‘no’
instead she tells him, if you want to Go!
And go he does into the splash of the shore
kicking up sea spray, pebbles galore.
This body that’s 200 parkruns high
has nursed bees back to life, saved spiders and flies
studies scripture and music and cycles for miles
‘you can’t be around him without wanting to smile’
So Go, if you want to feel the sea on your face
embrace peace or joy in this happy place.
